sabledawn
sable- for her dark brown points; -dawn for her cheery, optimistic disposition

AGE 25 moons
GENDER she-cat
RANK warrior
CLAN cloudclan
LOOKS sabledawn's build is average, perhaps a bit small and slender, but her body hardly matches her exotic coloration- looking much like the purebred kittypets in town, sabledawn has a mostly fawn-colored frame with dark, rich brown points at all of her extremities. her big, round eyes are a soft cerulean.
LIKES mornings, sunshine, singing, racing, laughing, spookwhisper
DISLIKES being scolded, sob stories, hunting, being responsible, getting sick
FEARS that no one likes her as much as they say they do, to be the butt of a mean joke, to bear kits
HOPES to bear kits (despite her fears), to have a family, to be adored, to earn her name in battle
OVERALL the most notable trait about this young warrior is her bouncy personality, chock full of restless energy and always ready to go go go! she has a knack for talking at incredible speeds about nothing particular at all, and it's shocking how long she can talk without ever needing a reply. of course, she doesn't have to be this way- she knows how to cork up her mouth, but if allowed, sabledawn will easily talk the ear off of anyone she's around. even when she's by herself she seems like a chatterbox. she sings, dances, and runs about for no reason at all. she's a perpetual kit at heart. ever cheerful, it's not easy to get this female down. except catching ill or being joked about. she's a bit sensitive, but for the most part she's an overly optimistic, cheerful, happy-go-lucky lady who simply brims with energy.
unfortunately, and also quite strange for a cat of her nature, sabledawn is rather lazy when it comes to hard work and clan-oriented responsibilities. rather than helping out, this she-cat would definitely prefer skipping out of menial, tedious tasks in favor of adventures and races and tumbling about with apprentices or bothering the elders. even as a warrior she's fond of avoiding her duties in order to get herself into loads of trouble. sure, she's earned herself plenty of punishments for such immaturity, but it's all in good fun. her heart's in the right place, and she loves her clan dearly.
oddly enough, this siamese lass has a darker side to her personality, and it comes out to play on a daily basis. most pay it no heed since she's so often friendly, bouncy, and fun, but in conversation one can quickly discover how nasty and mean this little wretch can be. not on purpose, of course, but sabledawn is shockingly brutal when it comes to opinions, and her own opinions overshadowing those of others. she's blunt in conversation, rarely sugarcoating her feelings in spite of her generally optimistic nature, and will tell it how she sees it. she doesn't particularly like hurting the feelings of others, but she's not gonna coddle anyone because they don't like what she has to say. she's unsympathetic, but that doesn't mean she's not loving. she just believes in tough love, and in spite of her arguments she gets herself into, sabledawn is an easily forgiving she-cat who rarely holds a grudge.
PAST her mother, doeflicker, had had a mate before sabledawn's father, but the other tom was softspoken and distant and- worse than that- he could not give her any kits. their relationship, which seemed cute with the two quiet, sweet cats together all the time, turned sour and awkward- the silence became unbearable for doeflicker, and she left him. oddly enough, sabledawn's father, thunderfang has also had a previous mate- two, actually. the first died young and broke his heart thus, and to this day he claims she still visits him at night (much to doeflicker's obvious displeasure, even if it is just a ghost). the second relationship simply fell apart. she did not feel much passion for him after several moons and, much to his shock, he didn't feel much either. they called it off on good termed, and doeflicker and thunderfang finally found each other. of course they had known each other for many moons- but doe was always coy and shy while thunderfang kept to his plethora of other ladies. doe still feels a bit anxious and jealous whenever her mate's gaze strays from her, but they've both retired to the elder's den now and she's not too concerned with him getting too far.
either way, their relationship was a strange and happy one. thunder was outgoing, occasionally vicious, and well-known. doe was of course much of a wallflower- gentle, sweet, and nimble like her namesake. though and unlikely pair, their love never faded. as they fell in love so late in their lives they bore only one litter before doe found herself unable to have anymore, and in this one litter was only one kit- sablekit. (thunder named their kit, and doe always resented how masculine the word 'sable' sounded- she was pleased to learn of sabledawn's more feminine warrior name).
however, around the same time doeflicker was nursing her only daughter- her mate always hovering annoyingly close, ever flustered over his ladies' wellbeings, another queen in the den was going into labor. however, her birthing did not end well, and she passed on. while doe hardly had a choice but to take on the ghostly white tom whom had been named spookkit (again, much to her displeasure- what a nasty name for a sweet, innocent furball!) she was more than happy to add a son to her harem. thunderfang only managed to accuse spookkit of being cursed once before doeflicker scolded him so fiercely and passionately that he quickly learned to let spookkit into his heart as well.
so, in lieu of tragedy, there was hope. spookkit and sablekit would learn to become close. after all, they were practically siblings, nursing from the same teet since birth.
as they grew up they would learn to fight, laugh, seek other friends in their best attempts to 'grow apart', but they'd always end up back at one another's side. one wandering off without the other was unheard of, and they convinced one another to get into plenty of trouble growing up, and they have since then been inseparable. though not actually related, they fight and forgive like family, and have remained the closest of friends since then.
during sablepaw's apprenticeship, she quickly discovered what punishments truly meant. though her mentor was not cruel, he was relentless and harsh. she learned how to push through her own blood, sweat, and tears, and eventually developed a keen passion for battle. her mentor was a big tom who pushed her hard and taught her to thirst for blood and revenge like he did- he turned her into a shockingly fearsome warrior (what would her mother say?!) and while she learned a plethora of other useful things along the way, it was this fire in her veins that drew her to her warrior ceremony, having earned it while defending her home from duskclan warriors one day around the same time spookpaw became spookwhisper. sabledawn always thought his warrior name was silly, perhaps only because it highlighted the very ways her clan saw her best friend so differently from her.
moons of average warrior living passed, or as average as it could be under the blight of duskclan, until one day cloudclan's neighbor seemed to have finally snapped. the raid on cloudclan's camp was terrifying, and sabledawn instinctively rushed to the medicine cat's den as her mentor had a terribly infected cut on the underside of one of his paws, and he was lame. when she got their, though, he was already slain as two duskclan cats had ganged up on the large, aging fellow. overwhelmed with sorrow and shock, sabledawn did all she could, along with spookwhisper, to at least help her elderly parents to flee from the scene. the vision of her dead mentor still haunts her occasionally, though she knows he must have fought valiantly, and earned a high place with starclan.
the journey was not particularly hard on sabledawn, although looking after her (occasionally quite annoying) parents wasn't much fun, she enjoyed the new sights and sounds and scents and was happy to have the opportunity to share these things with her best friend who, now more than ever, was starting to look like something more than that.
