ROCKY EXPANSE
where the forest ends and the ground gives way from the sandy soil and leaf litter alike, the rocky expanse begins. the land, although more sparse than the forest, still contains some shrubbery, but the rise in altitude causes the temperature to drop and the plants to die off. some of the hardier trees, such as the few pine trees located throughout the forest, become prevalent here. as the terrain becomes more mountainous, the wind also becomes stronger, and the higher areas of the rocky expanse are not safe for warriors and apprentices to wander around alone.
