HONEYSONG seek what you lost and find what you need... |

Her warm green eyes swept their gaze across the clearing. Honeysong purred softly. Things in the Clan were good at the moment, and the medicine cat was grateful she had received no ill-fated messages from StarClan in the past few moons. Of course, there was their new neighbors to worry about, but Honeysong had heard nothing bad from any returning border patrols.
ForestClan will come to see that having CloudClan to share our home with shall not be a burden, Honeysong thought. I wonder if their medicine cat will be able to teach me anything new?
Honeysong padded further into the open clearing, enjoying the tingling warmth of sunshine on her pelt. She could scent her clanmates and the mouth-watering smells emanating from the fresh-kill pile. Honeysong made her way across the clearing and selected a mouse. She took it back to the cool interior of the medicine den.
The prey was gone in a few bites, leaving Honeysong feeling full and satisfied. The medicine cat sat with her tail curled around her paws for a few moments, listing in her mind the tasks that she needed to do.
"First, I will take stock of the medicine supplies," Honeysong meowed to herself. She turned into the darker corner of the den and peered into the gloom. Settled on natural stone shelves were many herbs and other medicinal supplies that aided Honeysong in healing her clanmates.
She could scent most of the usual herbs, but soon realised her supply of honey was growing low. Honeysong sighed. Honey was quite difficult to find in the forest ... She would need some help oif she was going to find any. Perhaps there was a warrior or apprentice in the camp who might be willing to take a walk in the forest.
Honeysong padded back out into the morning sunshine. Her pricked ears caught the sounds of chirruping birds as she gazed around the clearing. ForestClan had not been too fortunate in the births of kits lately, and Honeysong had noticed there were not as many clanmates as she had once had. Still, there were a few cats in the clearing who seemed likely candidates for the honey hunt.
The orange and white she-cat was just about to call out to a cat across the clearing when somecat bumped into her. [/style] OCC words: 403 notes: introducing Honeysong! XD

harewhisker
his thoughts were slow and sleepy- after all, he had only just woken up from a nap. he felt terribly, terribly guilty about that of course, but he did his best to tell himself it was alright. he'd been sent on a rather extensive dawn patrol as soon as he had first woken up this morning anyway. unused to that sort of thing, it was no wonder he'd returned home feeling quite like a drowsey mess. the short nap was much needed, and the drab-colored fellow emerged from the warrior's den with a yawn that could have been the roar of a majestic lion had onlookers not recognized the tom yawning. as it was, the whole clan already knew harewhisker was quite the opposite of majestic, and he flicked his tail at the thought, willing it to go away. today could be a wonderful day if he remembered to stop getting down on himself.
as it were, he sat at the mouth of the den for a moment, blinking the sleepiness from his enormous, owl-like golden eyes, thoughts still drifting in and out of his mind as he woke up. the tom decided he was hungry, and his gaze drifted to the fresh-kill pile, a thoughtful noise emerging softly from his throat. yeah, a bite to eat sounded nice, though it made him feel even more unproductive yet- after his growling stomach was quieted, then he would go about his day.
the lanky, long-legged fellow trotted over to the pile of prey, a spring in his step, and pawed it over for a moment before discovering a sparrow, what a pleasant surprise! when he got past the mess of feathers and was careful around the tiny bones, harewhisker always felt rewarded by the savory, delicious morsel of meat. retreating out of the way a bit, he plopped himself upon the ground and began working away at the small bird, spitting feathers here and there rather ungracefully. it took a while, of course, but eventually harewhisker was enjoying a delicious, still-warm meal. it was gone in an instant, and he buried the feathers and bones in a small, neat pile.
"mmm," he sighed happily, flicking his long whip-like tail. now what? I oughta find islewhisper to give me something to do. he noted, and then got up and began to pad across camp, ready to begin nosing around for her. suddenly, hardly paying attention to where his paws were carrying him, the tom stumbled into another clanmate, you dolt! he scolded himself, before delivering a flurry of apologies to whomever it was he had bumped. "sorrysorrysorry, are you ok?" he kept murmuring, eyes wider than usual- especially after he realized it was forestclan's very own medicine cat. "goshI'msorry," had she been carrying a pile of herbs she now had to resort? "sorry," it was just a little bump but harewhisker was mentally kicking himself.

Honeysong took a few steps side ways, managing to stay upright despite her surprise. Her tail was slightly puffed up as she looked around for the source of the impact.
Her gaze fell on the amber eyes of a tom with brown and white fur. Honeysong flattened her tail fur and suppressed a sigh. The warrior looked even more surprised than Honeysong did. And then that look turned to complete terror. Obviously he had just realized he had bumped into ForestClan's medicine cat. That was definitely something Honeysong couldn't get used to. When cats treated her differently to a warrior, as though she was a part of StarClan itself, Honeysong felt guilty. Almost as though she had no right to be considered on the same level as a leader or a deputy.
Honeysong shook her head, realizing that the tom was still staring at her. She was hardly surprised when she figured out who it was... Harewhisker, Honeysong thought in good-natured exasperation. The lanky tom was known to be rather vertically challenged at times. Honeysong knew he just needed a helping paw at times. She twitched an ear, somewhat amused, as the warrior loosed a stream of apologies.
"Sorrysorrysorry, are you ok?" the tom was asking frantically. "GoshI'msorry ... sorry." Harewhisker's eyes had grown wider than usual as he stared guiltily at Honeysong. The she-cat playfully flicked one of his ears with her tailtip.
"Harewhisker," Honeysong began kindly, "Please stop apologizing. I'm not hurt, neither are you, and it's too nice a day to ruin my mood. Where are you off to in such a hurry?"
As she listened to his reply, the thought struck Honeysong that she should take Harewhisker with her while going to find honey. It might be a decision she would regret, what with Harewhisker's obvious clumsy nature, but it would assure the tom that she felt no ill-will toward him for bumping into her.
For a moment, Honeysong thought she heard her sister's voice, but Sparrowpetal was nowhere to be seen. She momentarily considered going to find her sister, then she glanced at Harewhisker. That wouldn't be fair, she thought. I think I will take Harewhisker with me.
She patiently waited for Harewhisker to stop speaking, itching to ask her question. Honeysong had quite a few tasks to go about doing today and this rather one-sided conversation was using up quite a bit of her time. Still, she was an understanding she-cat and she knew that Harewhisker would appreciate having something to do besides another patrol.

it took a rather long, awkward moment of repeated apologies and flustered tail-wagging for the tom to collect his bearings and get his rattled thoughts back in order amid the patched female's gentle-toned words which he hardly paid any heed to. of course she wasn't hurt, and neither was he- after all, it was only a bump. it wasn't like he barreled into her anyway, but he was thankful he had ran into a cat who was nice rather than one who would have scolded him and called him stupid. he would have quickly earned a reputation for being a clumsy baffoon had it been anyone but the kindly young female who now looked at him with a question on her lips.
"oh uh," he mumbled staring down at his paws and biting his lower lip, making it rather difficult to speak until he remembered he probably had to answer her, so he flicked his tail and shrugged. no, she probably wanted more of an answer than that. "I wasn't really hurrying, er, honeysong, I was just walking fast. just ate, y'know, wanted to work it off," he laughed awkwardly and shrugged again, timidly stealing a glance into her sweet gaze before looking down again. "I was just gonna look for islewhisper- look for somethin' t'do." he added quickly, wondering if honeysong would understand. after all, it seemed like medicine cats always had something to do. being a warrior could get boring quick. harewhisker hated to seem lazy though, hence the reason he always flitted around looking for work. being helpful to the clan was the ultimate reward to the young warrior who, though he was rarely recognized as such, prided himself in being the helpful sort.
"but um," he went on after a heartbeat, "maybe you'd need some help instead?" without thought, he added, "islewhisper scares me a lil' anyway," then laughed, unsure of how honeysong would take that. shy he might be, but he wasn't taking that back! a terrifying thought struck him- what if honeysong told the deputy on him? "starclan, please don't tell her honeysong!" harewhisker explained, eyes widening again when he looked up at the medicine cat urgently , "she'd skin me.." he muttered, curling his long tail and wincing at the unpleasant thought.
//eee, thanks! <3

Honeysong's question seemed to make Harewhisker even more flustered. She immediately regretted asking him anything, but he suddenly remembered how to speak and answered. "I wasn't really hurrying, er, Honeysong, I was just walking fast. just ate, y'know, wanted to work it off." The young tom laughed a little awkwardly, making Honeysong wince on the inside. He glanced up at her for a heartbeat before lowering his gaze again.
"I was just gonna look for islewhisper," Harewhisker added, "look for somethin' t'do." There was a short pause as Honeysong wondered if she should let Harewhisker go find the deputy instead of venture out into the forest with her. Then he continued, "but um, maybe you'd need some help instead?"
Honeysong opened her muzzle to reply and to finally ask her question but now that Harewhisker had got chatting, it seemed he didn't want to stop. "Islewhisper scares me a lil' anyway," he meowed with another nervous little laugh. A heartbeat later it struck him that what he had just said had been said to a medicine cat. His eyes grew wide again as Honeysong looked at him. "Starclan, please don't tell her Honeysong!" Harewhisker pleaded. "She'd skin me.."
Honeysong's whiskers twitched in amusement. "Yes, she probably would," the medicine cat giggled. "But don't worry. I won't tell." Honeysong gave a quick purr of assurance. "And if you don't want to speak with Islewhisper I do need help with something. If you're interested, of course." Honeysong sat on her haunches and wrapped her tail around her paws. "My honey stores are a bit low and I use it to treat coughs and things like that. I'm going out into the forest to see if I can find some more, but I'd much rather not go alone. I'll need some help." Honeysong put her head on one side and studied Harewhisker's reaction. "So, are you interested?"
